Empowering health and community
Purple House is an innovative Indigenous-owned health service based in Alice Springs, NT, dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with renal failure and helping patients return home to their country. In addition to renal services, Purple House offers primary healthcare, social support, aged care, NDIS services and operates a bush medicine social enterprise. And their services are expanding. With more than 20 remote clinics across the NT, WA and SA, and mobile dialysis units called the Purple Truck, Purple House are getting patients back home so that families and culture can remain strong.
As Purple House’s core business is ‘keeping all our families well’, the primary focus as a social enterprise is making sure that patients and family members throughout remote Australia have unlimited access to free Bush medicine. The retail trade also allows them to support Indigenous employment, training and the passing on of vital knowledge.
